In the presence of a galaxy of professors and deans of the faculties of Engineering and Information Technology in Egypt, Huawei Technology, the world's leading ICT company, celebrated - in the Engineering Faculty in the University of Cairo campus - that 6 Egyptian students were qualified to go to the world’s finales and honored students that came in the 15 first position at the Huawei ICT Skill Competition In which Egypt is participating for the first time.
This competition is stemming from the role of Huawei in training and qualifying the youth of universities and graduates in modern information technology and qualifying them for the labor market, increasing their competitive abilities with their peers from different nationalities, and the use of information technology and Huawei's solutions in promoting innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship among students of Egyptian universities. More than 1706 students participated in the competition from 10 Egyptian universities are: Cairo, Ain Shams, Misr University for Science and Technology, Al-Azhar University, Badr University, Al-Shorouq Academy, Modern Academy, Pharos University in Alexandria, Nile University and the British University.
Cairo University is always interested in participating in international competitions that develop the capacities of our students and the University has a long history and interest in the field of information technology. Huawei’s ICT Skill Competition is one of the most important international competitions that the university in particular was keen for students of the Faculty of Engineering to attended especially since it is the first time in Egypt. The university will be keen to participate in this competition every year. I have been a student of the ICT Skill Competition for 15 years and now 15 years later, I have become the CEO of Huawei's Enterprise Sector. Over 5,000 students have participated in this competition in China. I hope that after a number of years from now one of the Egyptian students who’s participating in this competition this year to deliver his speech from my position here in Huawei. Said Mr. Deeni……..
He added that Huawei is proud that Egypt is participating for the first time in the competition, as the field of information technology has become the strongest, and Egypt is one of the countries that have been keen in the field, progressed and exceled. We had to activate the competition in Egypt because we see a serious and prosperous future in Information Technology.
The competition has attracted great interest in the Egyptian universities since its preparation phase. It consists of two phases: a qualifying round and finals round between the participating students. 358 students took part in the qualifying round, while 88 students participated in the finals.
The competition will take place on a number of key themes: Routing, Switching, Network Security, Wireless-lan, and Cloud Computing. The contestants were granted certificates for passing the competition tests.
The competition is held in Egypt for the first time, while Huawei is keen to host it annually. This year 20 thousand students from eight regions around the world take part in the competition, including China, North Africa, South Africa, Western Europe, South Pacific, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Russia and some other countries.
