DiDi Egypt Reveals Ramadan Travel Trends and Women’s Rising Role

As Egypt celebrates the holy month of Ramadan alongside International Women’s Day this March, mobility patterns across the country reveal how residents balance work, social commitments, and family gatherings during this culturally significant period. Data from DiDi Egypt shows that flexibility and easy access remain top priorities for riders navigating their daily schedules throughout the month.

“Flex” Service Gains Popularity Among Riders

During Ramadan, city movement follows a distinct rhythm, with people traveling between work, iftar events, and late-night social gatherings. According to the platform’s latest figures, DiDi Egypt’s “Flex” service accounted for 58% of all rides in Egypt as of March 6, up from 53% during Ramadan 2025. This growth reflects the rising preference among riders for affordable, adaptable, and flexible transportation options during peak travel periods.

Shift in Peak Travel Days

DiDi’s mobility data also shows an interesting shift in travel behavior. While Thursday was the busiest day for rides during Ramadan 2025, preliminary insights from Ramadan 2026 indicate that Wednesday now leads, with a 10% increase in rides compared to the previous year’s peak day. This shift highlights subtle changes in how riders plan their social outings and weekly commitments, emphasizing the vibrant city life during Ramadan evenings.

Women Riders at the Forefront

Coinciding with these mobility trends, women continue to play a major role on DiDi Egypt’s platform, making up over 56% of total riders. This underscores the importance of providing safe, reliable, and convenient mobility solutions tailored to women’s daily travel needs across the country.

Positive Experience Reported by Female Passengers

Insights from DiDi’s latest rider experience surveys reinforce women’s positive experience on the platform. 82% of female riders report consistently being able to hail a ride successfully through the app. Additionally, 79% note that vehicles are clean and well-maintained, and 81% agree that estimated pickup times are reasonable. These high satisfaction levels demonstrate the crucial role of safety, reliability, and convenience in shaping women’s transportation choices.

Commitment to Flexible and Accessible Mobility

Together, these insights reveal how mobility habits in Egypt continue to evolve during significant cultural moments such as Ramadan and International Women’s Day. As people navigate between work, family gatherings, and social visits throughout the holy month, DiDi Egypt remains dedicated to providing flexible, accessible, and reliable transportation solutions that support riders’ daily journeys.
