Orange Digital Center launches “Orange Summer Challenge” under the slogan “Tech4Good”
For the first time in Egypt, Orange Digital Center announced the launch of Orange Summer Challenge in collaboration with Orange Digital Centers in Africa and the Middle East. This falls within the scope of the ODC’s plan, which aims to develop the capabilities of Egyptian society, particularly among creative and innovative youth, to help them learn new skills and utilize modern technologies, as well as to support them in entering the world of entrepreneurship professionally and turning their ideas into creative projects.
Orange Digital Center has opened registration for Orange Summer Challenge to university students and graduates ranging in age from 16 to 25. The registration deadline is June 30th in order to begin competition activities from July 1st to October 8th.
Under the slogan “Tech4Good,” Orange Summer Challenge intends to present intensive educational, training, and competitive events in various fields of technology, aiming to use technology to create solutions to real-world societal challenges. The challenge will last three months during the summer, and participants will learn everything they can about technology, design, entrepreneurship, innovation, and project management in a fun and enthusiastic environment.
In terms of technology support for students, Orange and Google will provide the best innovations during the challenge events through training and mentoring provided by local and international trainers, including experts from the Orange Digital Center’s Coding School high-tech platforms, while the manufacturing part will involve the use of FabLab Solidaire tools to assist students in turning their product into a realistic prototype. Ernst & Young Tunisia will also provide participants with technical assistance based on their experience and knowledge, particularly in the preparation of projects such as the model, business plan, and feasibility study. Later, participants in an integrated project can create a “brand” that will be presented to a jury for the chance to win the challenge prizes.
The challenge prizes are divided as follows: EGP 50,000 for the winning team, EGP 30,000 for the second-place winners, and EGP 20,000 for the third-place winners. The winners will also have the opportunity to meet experts and technology industry partners, as well as local and international start-ups, before having a real chance to turn their ideas into real projects and break into markets.
On this occasion, Noel Chateau, Chief Transformation & Operational Efficiency Officer at Orange Egypt, expressed his excitement with the launch of Orange Summer Challenge for the first time in Egypt as a successful outcome of Orange Digital Center’s opening in Cairo that took place at the end of last year.
“At its inauguration, in the presence of representatives from Germany, France, GIZ, and the leaders of Orange Group, Orange Digital Center pledged to make digital technology available to the greatest number of young people in Egypt and harness the positive power of digital innovation to support the communities in which we are present, support Egyptian talent, and maximize their chances of success,” he added.
