Orange Egypt Expands Digital Skills Access with New Training Hub in Aswan

Orange Egypt has announced the launch of its first digital training center in Upper Egypt, established in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and in partnership with Aswan University. The new center marks a strategic move to empower young people in the region with future-ready digital skills and improve their access to employment opportunities.

A Key Pillar of Orange Egypt’s Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy

The Orange Digital Center in Aswan is part of Orange Egypt’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy, supported by the German government. The initiative focuses on equipping youth with in-demand technical skills through free digital training programs, while supporting university students and innovators across Upper Egypt to better integrate into the labor market.

Building on the Success of the Cairo Digital Center

The Aswan launch builds on the success of the Orange Digital Center in Cairo, which was established in 2021 through cooperation between Orange Egypt and GIZ. Since its inauguration, the Cairo center has trained thousands of young people in digital technologies, significantly enhancing their employability and readiness for the job market.

Aswan University Supports Digital Transformation Goals

Louay Saad El-Din Nosrat, President of Aswan University, stated that the university’s participation in establishing the Orange Digital Center aligns with Egypt’s national priorities for digital transformation and human capacity development, as well as the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

He explained that Aswan University hosts the center on campus and provides the academic and organizational framework required for its operation, while coordinating with relevant faculties to ensure the integration of training programs with academic disciplines and labor market needs.

Programs Open to Youth Across Upper Egypt

The center’s training programs are available to Aswan University students as well as young people from Aswan and other Upper Egypt governorates. In addition, the university supports training and research-related activities linked to the center, ensuring broader community impact.

Orange Egypt Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment

Maha Nagy, Vice President for Public Relations, Media, and Corporate Communications at Orange Egypt, said that launching the first digital training center dedicated to Upper Egypt reflects the company’s strong commitment to its social responsibility role.

She emphasized that supporting and upskilling youth is a strategic priority for Orange Egypt, adding that the Aswan center complements the success of the Cairo Digital Center and underscores the company’s ongoing expansion of digital centers nationwide.

GIZ Highlights the Value of Public-Private Partnerships

Shereera Wasfi, Head of Governance and Community Development at GIZ, noted that the Orange Digital Center in Aswan reflects the German development cooperation approach based on strategic partnerships with the private sector. These partnerships, she said, help create sustainable opportunities, extend services to underserved communities, and strengthen youth participation in digital transformation.

Joint Implementation with German Government Support

The project was jointly implemented by Orange Middle East and Africa and GIZ on behalf of the German government under the develoPPP program. It also received support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through its “Decent Work for a Just Transition” initiative.

Integrated Digital Training and Innovation Hub

The Orange Digital Center in Aswan operates as a comprehensive digital hub for youth in Upper Egypt, offering free in-person and online training programs. These include software development, embedded systems, data analysis, cybersecurity, as well as hands-on training in hardware, electronics, and rapid prototyping technologies.

The center also provides technical and advisory support for university students and innovators, and organizes technology-focused events, competitions, and hackathons. These activities aim to foster innovation, reduce the digital divide, and promote social inclusion across Upper Egypt governorates.
