Rowan University Launches Its First International Campus in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital

Rowan University, in partnership with Modern Education Services, has officially launched its first-ever international campus in Egypt. This milestone represents a significant step in strengthening the educational and cultural ties between Egypt and the United States.

The establishment of this American university in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital aligns with the Egyptian government’s strategic plan to expand the presence of top global universities in the country. The Ministry of Higher Education, under the guidance of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has been instrumental in this initiative.

During a ceremony held at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the New Administrative Capital, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Rowan University and Modern Education Services. The event was attended by Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Private Universities, Robin Harutunian, Minister-Counselor for Diplomatic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, and Dr. Abeer Al-Shater, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. Anthony Lowman, President of Rowan University, and Dr. Ashraf Raphael, Chairman of Modern Education Services.

In his speech, Dr. Ayman Ashour emphasized Egypt’s commitment to attracting world-class international universities, particularly in the New Administrative Capital. This initiative supports Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development by diversifying higher education offerings.

Dr. Ashour highlighted that the internationalization of education is a key priority within Egypt’s national strategy for higher education and scientific research. He noted that establishing branches of foreign universities in Egypt enhances the quality of higher education, promotes the exchange of academic and research expertise, increases global competitiveness, and elevates the academic reputation of Egyptian education. Additionally, it provides students with diverse opportunities to earn international degrees without the need to study abroad.

Dr. Anthony Lowman, President of Rowan University, expressed the university’s commitment to offering a wide range of academic programs that meet the needs of both local and international students. He highlighted the upcoming programs in science, engineering, and business, which will be delivered according to the same rigorous standards as those at Rowan’s main campus in New Jersey, USA.

Dr. Ashraf Raphael, Chairman of Modern Education Services, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to fulfilling all the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding to expedite the start of classes at Rowan University’s international campus in Egypt.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Dr. Maurice Kalini, Vice President of Rowan University for International Relations, Dr. Gurkan Alkanat, and other representatives from the university. Modern Education Services was represented by Dr. Adel Ibrahim, a board member, and Michelle Morgan, Chief Operating Officer, along with other officials.

Rowan University is renowned as a comprehensive public research university with a strong academic commitment. It is the third fastest-growing public university in the United States, ranking 88th among the top 100 public universities and 40th for entrepreneurship programs by Princeton Review.

Rowan University offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs designed to prepare students for the global workforce.
