The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) organized today DevOpsDays Cairo conference 2020.
The event is held digitally and is organized in collaboration with DXC Technology, IBM Egypt, and Orange Labs.
This third edition of DevOpsDays Cairo 2020; themed under DevOps amid COVID-19 ,
comes as part of ITIDA, SECC, and the conference sponsors’ endeavors to raise awareness of the most significant and latest
IT trends, and connect IT companies, developers, and experts in this field.
The conference was opened by Eng. Amr Mahfouz, Acting CEO of ITIDA, and Dr. Hossam Osman, ITIDA’s VP and SECC Chairman.
In his opening remarks, Mahfouz welcomed the guests and pointed out that the country has passed the test of going digital
and managed to survive during the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to the state’s projects and huge investments to upgrade Egypt’s ICT infrastructure.
Mahfouz added that the world will witness more and more changes and accordingly new business models
will evolve along with advanced tech and new automation tools that will require more cooperation among different teams
and this is what exactly happens by achieving true DevOps.
The conference features keynotes from a number of experts and professionals in DevOps, among which Matt Stratton,
a transformation expert at Red Hat, as well as Andrew Clay Shafer, who has long experience in developing open source solutions
and applications and their role in improving operating services and building the digital community.
DevOps Days is a worldwide series of technical conferences that launched its first events in Belgium in 2009,
covering topics of software development, IT infrastructure operations, and the intersection between them.
The DevOps methodology represents the latest technological trends within various institutions as a set of revolutionary technical practices
and tools that enhance communication and interaction between software developers and IT project management experts, thus reducing costs,
improving and accelerating productivity, and implementing related processes more reliably and efficiently.
SECC has been providing training services on DevOps methodology and techniques since mid-2017 to raise awareness of using
this methodology among local companies, within an integrated system of services provided by SECC and ITIDA to improve
the efficiency of companies working in the sector or companies and entities that uses ICT in its operations.
DevOps is a multifunctional practice. Companies adopting DevOps use a range of various tools, known as toolchain which harmonizes
with one or more programming work categories, such as coding, building, testing, producing, initializing, monitoring, and observing,
thus reflecting key aspects of development and delivery.
This year’s conference sponsors include Giza Systems, Cegedim, Egypt Free and Open Source Software initiative Egypt Foss , and EgyptInnovate platform.
