At Davos 2026, Saudi Arabia Positions Itself as a Global Connector Economy

Saudi Arabia highlighted its growing role in reshaping global trade, tourism, technology, and economic cooperation during high-level discussions at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, as senior ministers outlined the Kingdom’s strategic vision amid shifting global dynamics.

Saudi Arabia and the Future of Global Trade

Speaking during the session “Many Shapes of Trade”, His Excellency Majid A. Alkassabi, Minister of Commerce, emphasized that international trade is undergoing a structural transformation toward more managed and rules-based systems. He noted that Saudi Arabia’s geographic position and resource base uniquely qualify it to serve as a bridge between continents.

“Saudi Arabia has the potential to become a connector economy,” Alkassabi said, highlighting the Kingdom’s ability to link Africa, Europe, and Asia while evolving into a major global logistics hub that benefits from supply chain realignments.

Tourism Growth Opens New Investment Horizons

In the session “The New Geography of Travel: Elevating Destinations, Expanding Opportunity”, His Excellency Ahmed A. Alkhateeb, Minister of Tourism, pointed to strong global tourism forecasts as a major opportunity for the Kingdom.

According to UN Tourism projections, global tourist numbers are expected to reach 2 billion by 2030, an increase of 500 million travelers. Alkhateeb described this growth as highly encouraging for Saudi Arabia, particularly for hotel operators, investors, and technology providers, noting the sector’s vast untapped potential.

Strengthening Economic Resilience and Investor Confidence

His Excellency Mohammed A. Aljadaan, Minister of Finance, underlined the importance of stability and predictability in economic policymaking. He stated that Saudi Arabia’s approach focuses on reinforcing economic resilience while creating a supportive environment that allows the private sector to invest and grow with confidence.

Saudi Arabia’s Ambition in the Intelligence Age

During the session “Converging Technologies to Win”, His Excellency Abdullah A. Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, discussed the Kingdom’s role in advancing artificial intelligence. He explained that Saudi Arabia is actively addressing key challenges such as energy and memory constraints in AI development.

Alswaha invited global partners to collaborate with the Kingdom, positioning Saudi Arabia as a preferred partner capable not only of accelerating AI innovation but also of enabling its large-scale adoption in the emerging Intelligence Age.

Global Cooperation on the Future of Minerals

In “A Collective Voice on the Future of Minerals: Aligning Policy, Investment and Supply”, His Excellency Bandar I. Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, stressed the Kingdom’s multilateral approach to international cooperation.

He highlighted the Future Minerals Forum as a leading global platform that brings together governments, industry leaders, financial institutions, academia, and technology experts to shape sustainable and resilient mineral supply chains.

Redefining Economic Partnerships

Addressing “Redefining Economic Partnerships: From Dialogue to Delivery”, His Excellency Faisal F. Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning, spoke about the importance of inclusive growth and continued dialogue among nations.

He noted that the global economy presents an unprecedented opportunity to redesign partnerships in a way that allows every country to unlock its economic potential while maintaining open channels of cooperation.

Saudi–U.S. Innovation Partnership Launched

On the sidelines of the forum, the Global Innovation Platform, a strategic collaboration between Saudi HoldCo and GoldenPoint Global, officially launched the Saudi–U.S. Innovation Partnership. The initiative is a nationally anchored platform aimed at accelerating bilateral cooperation in life sciences, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

Anchored in Riyadh and Austin, the partnership connects two leading innovation ecosystems and seeks to drive cross-border investment, research, and technological development.

Global Recognition for Saudi-Linked AI Innovation

In a further development, Amplifai Health was announced as a winner of the second cohort of the World Economic Forum’s MINDS – AI Global Alliance initiative, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s growing presence witthe global AI and health innovation landscape.
