Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Ai Everything Middle East & Africa (MEA) – Egypt officially opened, bringing together over 350 AI enterprises and startups, 100+ investors, and public-private sector leaders from more than 30 countries. This first all-AI summit and showcase of the year signals Egypt’s emergence as a regional hub for advanced technologies and AI-driven economic growth.

Cairo’s hosting of Ai Everything MEA goes beyond a standard tech event. By positioning artificial intelligence at the heart of Egypt’s economic and geopolitical agenda, the country emphasizes that AI is not a future aspiration, but a current engine of state modernization, business competitiveness, and foreign investment.
Organizers and Opening Remarks
The summit is presented by GITEX GLOBAL, the world’s largest tech and AI events network, and hosted by Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in partnership with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). Opening remarks were delivered by Ahmed Alzaher, CEO of ITIDA, and Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of inD, the global organizer of GITEX, highlighting Egypt’s rapidly growing AI ecosystem.
Launch of Egypt’s National LLM: Karnak
A central highlight of the opening day was the launch of Karnak, Egypt’s national large language model (LLM). Ranked among the largest Arabic LLMs with 30-80 billion parameters, Karnak serves as a locally grounded AI infrastructure, enabling startups, enterprises, and public institutions to develop AI solutions tailored to Egypt’s needs.

The Ministry unveiled several applications built on Karnak, including:
SIA: A personalized AI tutor supporting Arabic language and Egyptian history education for high school students.
AI Legal and Regulatory Assistant: Helping citizens and small businesses navigate Egypt’s regulatory framework.
AcQua: NLP technology to audit citizen interactions with the Digital Egypt call center.
Healthcare AI Engines: Locally trained systems for early detection of diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, and breast cancer in collaboration with UNDP.
Torgoman & BelMasry: Automated translation and NLP engines for colloquial Arabic.
Loghat: LLM-based application for democratizing English language education and enhancing workforce readiness.

Unlike many global AI events that emphasize theory or distant promises, Ai Everything MEA Egypt prioritizes tangible outcomes. From live AI infrastructure deployments to sector-specific applications in government services, healthcare, fintech, cybersecurity, and smart cities, the summit demonstrates that AI is transitioning from strategic planning to production-ready systems.
