Kwai Sheds Light on Social Media Bullying with “The Victim” Campaign
Kwai, the global social network for short videos and trends, is reaffirming its ongoing commitment to user safety and privacy and to maintaining an inclusive environment for its community with the launch of “The Victim” on May 30, 2022. The in-app campaign aims to raise awareness on social media blackmailing, its impact and how we can work together to combat it.
The campaign will bring content creators together to post videos across different categories that focus on preventing bullying of any degree — as well as fostering kindness and respect — on the platform.
This campaign will be a 5-episode series that will challenge content creators to portray the true stories of real victims in hopes that the audience can witness first-hand the devastating impact online abuse has on the wellbeing of children and the youth.
The motivation category will encourage people to always be considerate of what the consequences of their actions online can be, as they can sometimes cost someone else’s life. It’ll deliver a key message: everyone deserves to be treated with compassion – not only in real life, but also online.
The knowledge category will educate users on protecting themselves and their content online and will shed light on the legal consequences of committing social media blackmailing.
The campaign will also include an ethical category that will showcase the importance of morality and values when it comes to the topic of cyberbullying as well as a lifestyle hashtag that will mimic real-life scenarios of the perpetrator photoshopping pictures of the victim and the victim’s response in trying to defend and fight for themselves against blackmail.
This initiative aims to promote the wellbeing of Kwai’s users and ensure a positive, enjoyable experience for everyone.
