Chinese Delegation along with the Deputy Head of the Egyptian Parliament Visits Huawei Egypt

Chinese Delegation headed by Mr. Wang Yang, Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPCC) chairperson along with Mahmoud El Sherif, the Deputy Head of the Egyptian Parliament, and the Chinese ambassador in Egypt, visited Huawei Egypt. The visit took place on the sidelines of the Chinese delegation meeting with the President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi. This visit highlights the importance of Huawei’s contribution to the Egyptian ICT infrastructure and ecosystem.

During the tour, Mr. Wang Yang visited Huawei’s Solution experience center and Huawei Cairo’s OpenLab which were launched in 2017. Huawei’s solution experience center is mainly oriented to carrier customers and government communications departments, demonstrating Huawei’s technologies and sharing Huawei’s global success experience. Huawei Cairo’s OpenLab leverage Huawei’s technologies in cloud computing, storage, and network to provide a leading development platform for local companies and incubate local features. Huawei Cairo’s OpenLab is open to local Huawei partners in 28 countries in Northern Africa.

Experts presented to Mr. Yang Huawei’s contribution to develop a powerful ICT infrastructure and Ecosystem in Egypt. In 2016, Huawei has built more than 11,000 4G sites in Egypt, accounting for 55% of the total number of 4G base stations in Egypt, in cooperation with the state-owned operators Egypt Telecom, Vodafone, orange, and Etisalat. In 2018, Huawei supported Egypt to complete the national bandwidth acceleration project with high quality and high standard delivery. During the same period, Huawei actively discussed with carriers and launched new services to enrich life in Egypt such as IPTV.

Huawei technical expert also showcased Huawei’s latest technological solutions such as; 5G applications which was presented last month in WRC 2019 in collaboration with Telecom Egypt, Safe City module which was deployed in the Cairo Stadium during the African Cup, Smart Campus Solution which is deployed in Talaat Moustafa group residential compounds. Huawei experts also highlighted other technological solutions including Smart Street Lamp, Special Vehicles’ driver Monitoring system, Cloud Desktop System, Smart City, and AI Camera.

Mr. Yang was also briefed on Huawei’s Social reasonability activities in Egypt including Huawei’s ICT academy which focus on capacity building in the ICT sector in Egypt. In 2019, 100,000 students from 1600 universities in 62 countries participated in Huawei’s annual ICT competition. Egyptian university students won the second place in the cloud computing competition.
