Orange Egypt and Huawei have successfully deployed the world’s first CCIC Microwave Technology, marking a significant milestone in wireless backhaul innovation and telecommunications technology.
The deployment demonstrates the impact of joint research, development and technical cooperation between the two companies, combining Huawei’s advanced interference-cancellation capabilities with Orange Egypt’s extensive network infrastructure.
The new technology is designed to address one of the major challenges facing modern wireless networks: the growing demand for spectrum resources and the need to use available frequencies more efficiently.
CCIC Technology Boosts Microwave Spectrum Efficiency by Up to 400%
At the heart of the deployment is Huawei’s Co-Channel Interference Cancellation (CCIC) technology, which enables more efficient utilization of microwave spectrum.
Through the implementation of advanced CCIC algorithms and an interference-cancellation architecture across Orange Egypt’s network, the solution can increase microwave spectrum efficiency by up to 400%.
The technology allows up to four high-capacity microwave links to operate simultaneously on exactly the same frequency channel without signal degradation. This capability can quadruple network throughput while preserving valuable spectrum resources.
The deployment therefore provides a technological response to spectrum scarcity while supporting the increasing capacity requirements of modern telecommunications networks.
Huawei Integrates Advanced Interference-Cancellation Solutions
As a key technology provider, Huawei played a central role in the development and implementation of the solution.
The company contributed advanced microwave solutions, software-defined interference-cancellation algorithms and technical expertise throughout the deployment process.
Huawei’s teams worked on the design, testing and integration of the CCIC Microwave Technology into Orange Egypt’s nationwide network, supporting the successful implementation of the solution across the operator’s infrastructure.
This technical collaboration demonstrates how advanced interference-management technologies can be integrated into existing telecommunications networks to improve performance while making more effective use of available spectrum.
Strengthening Egypt’s Digital Infrastructure
The deployment represents another step in strengthening Egypt’s digital backbone and expanding the capacity of its wireless communications infrastructure.
By enabling ultra-high-speed connectivity for mobile broadband services, the technology contributes to the development of networks capable of handling growing data requirements from both consumers and businesses.
The deployment also lays the groundwork for advanced 5G enterprise and consumer services, supporting the continued evolution of Egypt’s telecommunications infrastructure toward higher capacity, efficiency and reliability.

NTRA Supervision Supports Efficient Spectrum Utilization
The deployment was made possible through the forward-looking supervision and continuous support of the Egyptian National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA).
The authority’s focus on maximizing the use of national spectrum resources and enabling advanced technological solutions has played an important role in facilitating the implementation of this innovation.
More efficient spectrum utilization is increasingly important as demand for wireless connectivity continues to grow. Technologies capable of increasing network capacity without requiring additional spectrum can therefore contribute to the development of a stronger and more inclusive digital economy.
Orange Egypt: Innovation to Address Spectrum Challenges
Dr. Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Orange Egypt, highlighted the company’s longstanding partnership with Huawei and its role in advancing telecommunications innovation.
He said the cooperation between Orange Egypt and Huawei continues to establish new benchmarks for innovation in the telecommunications sector.
According to Amiri, deploying the world-first CCIC solution with Huawei directly addresses spectrum bottlenecks while reinforcing Orange Egypt’s commitment to developing advanced and future-ready digital infrastructure for customers across Egypt.
The deployment reflects Orange Egypt’s continued focus on using technological innovation to respond to the evolving requirements of its network and customers.
Huawei Highlights the Potential of Advanced Interference Management
Engineer Mohamed Youssef, Key Account Executive at Huawei Egypt, emphasized the company’s commitment to strengthening its strategic collaboration with Orange Egypt through the introduction of the CCIC microwave innovation.
He noted that the close technical cooperation between the two companies demonstrates how advanced interference-management solutions can unlock significant opportunities to improve network performance.
Huawei also reaffirmed its commitment to working with Orange Egypt to develop seamless, highly efficient and reliable connectivity solutions that contribute to Egypt’s national digital transformation agenda.
A Strategic Partnership Built Over Decades
The CCIC deployment represents the latest milestone in a strategic partnership between Orange Egypt and Huawei that has developed over several decades.
Throughout their cooperation, the two companies have worked together to introduce network technologies and innovations to the Egyptian and regional markets.
Their collaboration has included nationwide 5G infrastructure rollouts, advanced Massive MIMO deployments and E-band high-capacity microwave backhaul solutions.
The partnership has also extended to energy-efficiency initiatives, including green “0 Bit 0 Watt” energy-efficient base stations, as well as localized enterprise cloud services.
Continuing the Evolution of Wireless Backhaul
The introduction of CCIC Microwave Technology adds another significant milestone to the technological cooperation between Orange Egypt and Huawei.
By allowing multiple high-capacity links to operate on the same frequency channel while maintaining signal quality, the solution addresses spectrum efficiency and network capacity simultaneously.
With up to 400% higher microwave spectrum efficiency and the ability to support four high-capacity links on the same frequency channel, the deployment highlights the role of advanced wireless backhaul technologies in preparing telecommunications networks for increasing connectivity demands.
The collaboration between Orange Egypt and Huawei continues to combine network infrastructure, advanced software algorithms and technical expertise to support the development of highly efficient digital connectivity in Egypt and contribute to the country’s ongoing digital transformation.
